The Day-Date is one of the pillar watches produced by Rolex. When the reference 1803 was introduced in 1959, it held the iconic design of the famed watch witnessed on the wrist of President Eisenhower at one point, hence the nickname the Rolex “President”. For decades, wearing one was considered a hallmark of having 'made it' in life. For all intents and purposes, the Day-Date has maintained an identical look over the years, with a 36mm case and fluted bezel.
The present Reference 1803 from 1962 features a wonderful luminous champagne dial in machine-turned structure, delicate alpha hands and faceted dagger indexes that are slightly thicker at six and nine o’clock. A remarkable version of a versatile watch with class and chic, the present Day-Date is an excellent daily companiont.
